About Springfree Trampoline
-
Why is a Springfree Trampoline safer than other trampoline models?
When you compare a Springfree Trampoline with a traditional trampoline, you’re not comparing apples with apples.
Springfree Trampoline was born out of a desire to make trampolines safe. The inventor, Dr Keith Alexander, completely revolutionised and redesigned the traditional trampoline to remove all the parts that cause harm to the jumper.
- The frame is below the jumping surface, so it can’t be contacted while jumping.
- The springs have been replaced with flexible rods, which are also below the jumping surface.
- The high quality enclosure is held up with flexible rods, which also can’t be contacted by the jumper.
Once your child is in your Springfree Trampoline, there are no parts of the trampoline that can harm them.
Springfree Trampoline is also the only trampoline (out of 10 brands) to be recommended by CHOICE® and pass all major safety tests without any serious failures.
-
How does a Springfree™ Trampoline work?
Springfree is a SoftEdge™ trampoline that uses strong, flexible composite rods in place of springs with a Flexinet™ enclosure that keeps the jumper from falling off the trampoline.
-
Is a Springfree Trampoline as bouncy as a traditional trampoline?
Springfree Trampoline provides a bounce similar to a traditional, spring-based trampoline in terms of how high you can jump. However, the feel of the bounce differs. The smoother bounce of a Springfree Trampoline is much gentler on knees and joints.
In 2021 Springfree Trampoline became the only trampoline recommended by Consumer Group CHOICE® for the third consecutive time. The Springfree Medium Round Trampoline and 9 other brands were tested against the Australian Safety Standards (AS4989:2015), with Springfree the only trampoline to pass the tests. -
How soft is the edge of a Springfree Trampoline?
Unlike a traditional trampoline, there is no hard frame at the edge of a Springfree Trampoline. The SoftEdge™ on a Springfree is just that – soft! And it is 30 times more shock absorbent than pads found on traditional trampolines.
-
Why doesn't a Springfree Trampoline have pads around the edge?
Springfree Trampoline’s design has completely removed the springs and steel frame at jumping level, so there is no need for pads.
Traditional trampolines require pads to protect the jumper from falling onto the steel frame and springs and independent safety tests show that these pads do not absorb enough impact to sufficiently protect jumpers. -
Other trampolines have enclosures - what is different about the Springfree™ Trampoline enclosure?
Springfree Trampoline’s FlexiNet™ enclosure is strong and fully flexible. It will cushion wayward jumpers and gently redirect them back to the center of the trampoline.
Traditional trampolines may also have enclosures but they aren’t flexible and are held up with rigid steel poles which introduce another impact risk. Basic enclosures only stop jumpers falling off and jumpers end up landing on the springs and frame. -
Can a jumper hit the ground even though there's a net?
Our FlexiNet™ enclosure system is designed to catch wayward jumpers and guide them safely back to the center of the mat.
Even in cases where the FlexiNet is challenged by intentionally jumping into the top section of the enclosure, its key design characteristics will maintain jumper safety. It is possible for a skilled jumper to make the net flex to the ground but the FlexiNet will still absorb the jumper's impact and decrease the speed at which the jumper is lowered to the ground, minimizing the eventual impact. -
Can I have a Springfree Trampoline without the enclosure?
The FlexiNet™ is an integral safety feature of a Springfree Trampoline that comes with the trampoline when you purchase it. It is not attached to the mat, so in theory you could install the trampoline without it. However falling off the trampoline accounts for almost 50% of all trampoline related injuries which means the FlexiNet is really important for jumper safety.
-
Do the Springfree™ Trampoline rods twist?
Springfree Trampoline's composite rods are designed to work in unison, bending inwards as a jumper bounces. The mat movement is negligible and has no effect on jumpers.
-
Why do you recommend only one child jump on the trampoline at a time?
The Springfree Trampoline design has eliminated 90% of product-related injuries that the traditional trampoline design causes, however the one injury causing element we haven’t been able to eliminate is jumper collision. To ensure your family avoids injury altogether, we highly recommend a one-at-a-time rule.
-
How much weight can a Springfree Trampoline take?
To understand how strong a Springfree Trampoline is, there are two weights you need to be aware of - the Structural Load Capacity and the Maximum User Weight. The first relates to strength and the second relates to safety.
The Structural Load Capacity is the amount of static weight a trampoline can hold. A Springfree is strong enough to hold more than this weight, but this limit allows for a safe margin before the mat will touch the ground.
The Maximum User Weight is based on how heavy you are and how high you jump. It is about ensuring jumpers don’t ‘bottom out’ (touch the ground while jumping). The Australian Safety Standards allows for a minimum 15% safety margin to ensure that even when you jump about as high as 1m off the mat, and you weigh the maximum user weight, you won’t touch the ground.

Is the Springfree Trampoline weather-resistant? Can it stay up through all seasons?
All components of the Springfree Trampoline are weather-resistant, including UV stabilized mat and net rods, a galvanized and powder-coated steel frame and a UV stabilized polypropylene mat and safety enclosure.
Your Springfree Trampoline can be used all year and does not need to be covered or packed away even during the harshest summers or the coldest winters. -
Where is Springfree Trampoline made?
Springfree Trampoline is a global product. We source the individual parts from around the world from our own specialist suppliers who are selected based on their ability to provide us with the highest quality componentry that we demand.
It all comes together in our own production facility in China where each component undergoes rigorous testing. Every frame is assembled and each trampoline is individually inspected to ensure that you receive the best quality trampoline we’ve ever made. -
Are the plastic covers necessary on the mat and net rods?
Yes. The high performance rods on a Springfree Trampoline are housed in light plastic sheaths that protect the composite rods from UV deterioration. These sheaths may deteriorate over long periods of time as they take the full force of UV exposure but they can be easily replaced. How do I choose which model is best for my family?
Choosing the Springfree Trampoline that is right for your family simply comes down to two things:
- How big is your yard?
and - How old are your jumpers?
We encourage you to keep in mind that your children are going to keep growing (and keep on loving their Springfree!) so we recommend you choose the biggest trampoline that your yard can accommodate.
Top tip: to work out how much space the model you’re considering will take up in your yard, we recommend laying out your garden hose in the shape of the trampoline. This will give you a good visual idea of how much space the trampoline will take up. - How big is your yard?
